MAY 2017 UPDATE
MyRoad is an innovative online mentoring program for female students.
MyRoad connects female students aged 16 to 19 (or turning 16 that year) to industry mentors via video chat technology into classrooms anywhere across Australia!
Beacon has good news this month as we open up the MyRoad registration page to gather volunteers for this invaluable mentoring program. In 2017/18, the MyRoad student e-mentoring program is aiming to have 2,000 young women participate and we need your help to recruit as many possible volunteers within your industry. We need mentors from a diverse range of occupations including the service sector, trades and the professions from diverse cultural backgrounds. Our initial target is to recruit 200 mentors by 30 September 2017.
OTHER PROGRAM OPTIONS AVAILABLE ON EBEACON:
There are also many other options for volunteers to participate with Beacon for instance – “Career Stories”.
Beacon welcomes videos that are real, raw accounts detailing an individual’s career journey, educational pathway, daily tasks, industry practices, challenges, rewards and work-readiness advice. Stories are welcome from individuals at all levels of business – relatively new or experienced employees, managers, owner-operators, executives, apprentices etc. Career Story contributors may be eBeacon members or non-members. Contributors who are not currently an eBeacon member are invited to apply (membership is subject to approval).
Please note eBeacon members can access training on recording Career Stories and how educators use this resource.
If you are interested in providing a career story, please follow these instructions.
There will be other ways available for you to volunteer your time and expertise to reach, connect & inspire Australia’s future workforce.
Lookout for our next update early June.
