In South Australia, Child Safety is the responsibility of the Department of Communities & Social Inclusion (DCSI) who conduct child related employment/volunteering screening via the DCSI screening unit.  If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact the unit directly:

IF YOU HAVE A CHECK...

  1. If you are already registered for eBeacon please sign in and and include your DCSI check details in the Working with Children section of your eBeacon profile.
  2. If you are not registered for eBeacon please register and then provide your DCSI check details in the Working with Children section of your eBeacon profile.
  3. Beacon will commence a new DCSI Check if your current DCSI Check is not linked to Beacon.
  4. You will receive an email from the DCSI Screening Unit providing instructions on how to complete your application.
  5. Beacon will notify you via email when we have validated your new DCSI Check (linked to Beacon).
  6. If there are any issues, Beacon will contact you directly to discuss next steps.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CHECK...

  1. If you are not registered for eBeacon please register.
  2. Once you have registered, Beacon will commence your application for a DCSI Check.  You will receive an email from the DCSI Screening Unit with instructions on how to complete your application. Please note that there is an application fee payable by the applicant ($58.30 as at August 2017).
  3. DCSI Screening Unit will send you a clearance letter via mail advising the outcome of your DCSI Check.
  4. Beacon will notify you via email when we have validated your DCSI check.
  5. If there are any issues, Beacon will contact you directly to discuss next steps.

IF YOU ARE A TEACHER...

If you are a teacher who is currently registered with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia, you are exempt from requiring a DCSI Check.

Please follow step 1 or 2 of the “If you have a check” process above and provide your Teacher Registration details in the Working with Children section of your eBeacon profile.
